Roots Ethiopia partners with communities in Ethiopia to turn local ideas into lasting change. They work together to improve schools, educate children, enable livelihoods, and include everyone. Donating to Roots Ethiopia is just one of the ways I like to “give back”. They help families in the region where I was born and that’s very special to me. Also, if you’d like to help me and my family return to Ethiopia to see the library/science lab I built and to meet the children in my birth village who use those new facilities please consider donating to my GoFundMe. Thank you crochet friends!

Crochet Red Heart Granny Square Tote Bag
I used Red Heart’s new Granny Square “All in One” yarn to crochet this magnificent tote. It makes crocheting squares super simple. If your tension is perfect, the squares will turn out with one color per round. If the tension is off a little, the color will go into the next row…no big deal. Lots of people, including myself, purposely make granny squares like this. But if you don’t like it- frog it and try again. It’s a great way to work on your tension and stitch count.

Crocheted Kisa Tee
This is the Crocheted Kisa Tee. I used Glitter Delight Yarn from Hobbii and I think it turned out beautifully. It’s a rather simple design because it’s made in one piece. I love the yarn and the color choices they offer. I’ll provide a link to the yarn. When you are there- search for “Kisa Tee” and you can download the free pattern. They are from Denmark. Don’t be afraid of international shipping- it is inexpensive and from my experience, the yarn arrives quickly!

Crocheted Stuffed Chick
I used Baby Snuggle (Solid) yarn from Hobbii to crochet this adorable Chick for my cousin. I’ll include the link to the yarn below. You’ll also be able to find the free pattern for the Chick on their website as well. I made my Chick much bigger however. So, if you want to make one as big as mine- add a few extra skeins of that yellow yarn to your cart! Super easy to make and the yarn is super soft. I really loved working with it.
Bernat Shockwaves Lap Blanket
This blanket uses that nice, big thick yarn you see in the store that you don’t know what to do with! This “lap” blanket takes 5 balls and weighs over 6 pounds for those who like weighted blankets to help with anxiety. These blankets are easy to make and work up quickly. Get out your big hook!

Crochet Moss Stitch Bias Scarf
It’s a high style super scarf but others may call it a shawl or even a blanket because of its generous size. I used Red Heart Gem Stone yarn but the pattern calls for Bernat Wavelength yarn. Choose the yarn that suits your preference. A chunky 5 weight works best.

Crochet Cabled Ribbed Hat
Cables are beautiful in a crochet hat and I love them in this beautiful burgundy color. The cables are slightly challenging so perhaps not a beginner project. If you have some experience, give this hat a try.

Bernat Fleece Super Scarf
This scarf is big and soft! It uses a wonderful yarn called Bernat Forever Fleece. The scarf is easy to make because it uses the simple Linen Stitch or some call it the Moss Stitch. Give it a try!
Crochet Oversized Hoodie
This oversized hoodie is just like wrapping up in a warm blanket. It uses blanket yarn which comes in a variety of colors. It’s simple to make and has an easy construction. This is a very popular item!

I chose to crochet this blanket in the classic Americana colors. You can certainly switch up the colors to suit your style. The tassels on this blanket are one of my favorite details. It’s a simple blanket with a big impact!
